Matthew Vance was born and raised in the Land of Enchantment, spending his childhood and adolescence in Santa Fe before receiving his undergraduate degree at NM State University, and settling in Albuquerque after completing his Juris Doctorate at UNM School of Law in 1998. Following law school, Matt couldn’t fathom leaving the home and community he knew and loved. In 2003, he married his wife and fellow attorney Lisa Schatz-Vance and the young couple began their family here in the Rio Grande Valley.
I grew up here. My family is here. My friends are here. My wife and I are raising our son here. This is my community. I am committed to making my community a better and safer place. I do that in many ways, but one way is through the work I do – holding others responsible for their actions when they are unwilling to do so on their own.
–Matt Vance
Well before he dawned he dawned a graduation cap and gown, Matt launched his legal career in 1989 as a runner and paralegal for a local law firm. Ten years and a law degree later, he began working in the Public Defender Department, where he remained committed to defense work until he transitioned to Insurance Defense Litigation in 2002. During those early years, attorney Matthew Vance witness unscrupulous treatment of real people who had been injured through no fault of their own. It was this poor treatment of the victims within the community he loved that led him to abandon the defense of goliath corporations and begin his work with a reputable Plaintiffs’ law firm.
In 2006, The Law Office of Matthew Vance was founded with a primary objective: To bring honest and personalized representation to those harmed by the negligent or reckless actions of others. Almost two decades later, that mission remains as strong and true as Matt’s love for New Mexico and its people. When someone chooses to needlessly endanger others with their negligent or reckless actions, or when a corporation makes a choice to put profits ahead of people, attorney Matthew Vance brings with him over 24 years of diverse experience to fiercely protect the rights of survivors, victims, and their families.
